1 Hour Early Dismissal, March 20-24

During the week of March 20-24, 2017, all schools will dismiss students 1 hour earlier than their regularly scheduled dismissal time. This early dismissal time will be used for parent conferences.

Primary & Elementary students will dismiss at 2:35 p.m.
Middle & High students will dismiss at 2:00 p.m.

Bids will be received by the Burke County Board of Education at their offices, 789 Burke Veterans' Parkway, Waynesboro, Georgia, 30830 on April 10, 2017 at 3:00 pm. Local Time.
Bid packets may be obtained at the Burke County Board of Education Offices located at the above address.
The owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities and informalities and to award the bid on whatever basis is in the interest of the owner.

GaDOE 2017 SpEd Parent Survey

We are excited to announce the changes with the Parent Satisfaction Survey. Based on input from stakeholders statewide and the State Advisory Panel, the 2017 parent survey has been shortened to 10 questions and will be open to all families of students with disabilities throughout Georgia.

All BCPS parents are encouraged to participate in the Georgia Parent Survey because the data will be used as part of the calculation of the School Climate Star Rating. Survey responses are anonymous.

Annual Asbestos Plan Notification

The Burke County Board of Education AHERA Management Plan is available for public inspection upon request at the Burke County Board of Education Central Office. This notification is provided to fulfill the requirement of Section 763.93(4) of the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act, 40 CFR Part 763, October 30, 1987. All interested parents, teachers, employees or other persons may review the plan, which includes the following items:

1. Location, amounts and types of asbestos containing materials.
2. Response actions to the asbestos containing materials.
3. Plans for re-inspection and periodic surveillance.
4. Public notification procedures.

Valentine Delivery Reminders

Valentine’s Day, Tuesday, February 14, 2017.
Please be mindful of the following Valentine Delivery rules:
• All walk-in Valentine deliveries must be in by 12:30 p.m.
• No balloons or glass containers are to be delivered to any of the schools. This includes large balloons that contain stuffed animals, as well as small Mylar balloons on a stick.
• Student’s name, grade, and homeroom teacher should be on each delivery.

2 Hour Early Dismissal: Wed., February 1, 2017

Wednesday, February 1, 2017, ALL of our schools will dismiss students 2 hours earlier than their regularly scheduled dismissal time.
• All WPS, SGA, and BES students will dismiss at 1:35 p.m.
• All BCMS, BCAS/LC and BCHS students will dismiss at 1:00 p.m.
We ask that parents make necessary arrangements to ensure someone is in place to receive all primary and elementary students at their designated bus stops. There will be no exceptions.
The two-hour early dismissal time will be used for faculty and staff professional learning purposes and students will return to school the following day, February 2nd.

NOTICE-Special Education Records

The Burke County Board of Education will destroy all student records relating to Special Education Services for individuals who will attain the age of 22 on or before June 30, 2016. These records will be destroyed after Friday, August 5, 2016. Anyone wishing to recover his/her personal records before they are destroyed may call the Student Services Office at (706) 554-6306 to schedule an appointment for pickup.
