The After School Program (ASP) at Blakeney consists of a small snack, “quiet time,” and activity time. The “quiet time” will give the students the opportunity to work on homework. The “activity time” will give the students the opportunity to work in centers, work with educational games, and /or participate in physical activities.

The BES After School Program has a pre-payment policy.  Payment is due the first day that a child attends each week.  Checks must be made payable to the Blakeney Elementary School ASP. There will be no refund or credit if your child does not attend the ASP.

The cost of the program is $30 for the first child; $28 for the second child, and $25 for the third child. If you fail to pay on the first day a child attends each week, then you will be charged a $2 late fee for each day that the payment is late for each child enrolled.  If you desire to pay for the month, you may do so.  We will allow drop-ins; however, the child’s parent/guardian must call the school office prior to 11:00 am on the day the child must be a drop-in.  The cost is $8 per day for each drop-in and is payable when the child is picked up.  A $2 late fee per child, per day will also be charged if the fee is not paid according to the established guidelines.

If you are late three times in making your payment, your child will be withdrawn from ASP. A check returned because of insufficient funds will count as a late payment.  A fee of $10 will be charged for a returned check. Two returned checks will result in payment on a cash basis for the remainder of the school year.

The ASP is provided each school day from 3:00-5:30 pm. You can sign your child out at anytime during these hours.  If you are late picking your child up, you will be charged $1 per minute, per child enrolled, after 5:30 pm.  Three late pick-ups will result in your child’s dismissal from the program.  If anyone other than the parent/guardian picks up the child, we reserve the right to require an ID from that individual.

Assistance with your child’s homework is provided each day.  A 60-minute limit on homework is enforced at every site, because it is the belief of the ASP staff that students do need a time for physical activity.  Parents must realize that checking homework is still the responsibility of the parent(s).  Even though the assignment may have been completed at ASP, parents must verify the correctness of it and that all assignments have been completed.

Please remember that the ASP is a service to the community.  We are not required to keep a child in the program if he/she cannot behave.  If any problems are encountered with your child’s behavior, a conference will be set up with the supervising teacher/paraprofessional, the ASP Coordinator, and the parents to discuss the problem.  If the behavior continues after the conference, then the child will be withdrawn from the program.

The only exception to the above mentioned procedures would be if your child is involved in fighting at the after school site.  Fighting will result in immediate termination from the program.

When school closes, the ASP closes!

If for any reason your child does not attend school during the day, he/she will not be allowed to attend the ASP that afternoon. After your child is enrolled as a “full-time” student then payments for his/her attendance must be made weekly whether he/she attends or not. If your child drops out for any reason, then a $10 registration fee will be charged when he/she reenters the program.
