What's Up with PTA

Many of you may be asking what is PTA and what is its purpose? PTA is a national nonprofit organization that has dedicated itself to advancing the well being of children, youth, and families for more than 100 years. PTA is an advocacy oranization for every child. The purpose of PTA is:

• To promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, community, and place of worship
• To raise the standards of home life
• To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth.
• To bring into closer relationthe home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of the children and youth.
• To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social, and spiritual education.

The purpose of the PTA at WPS is to inform the parents, support the teachers, encourage the students, and help provide funds that enable the school to improve the educational experience for all students.

How are we financially supported? We raise money through fundraisers, like Jaxco product sales, Coca-Cola sales, and a school T-shirt sale. With the monies we raise, we are able to buy much needed educational equipment, costumes, cool treats on field days, we give each child $2.00 to shop at the Santa's Secret Shop for gifts for their families, and we provide extra funds to school resources.

It's not too late to become a member of the PTA at Waynesboro Primary. Membership dues are only $5.00.
