Demographic Information SGA Elementary has been recognized as a Title I Distinguished School for nine consecutive years. This achievement has been accomplished through our data-driven, cutting-edge initiatives, which increased the rigor of our GPS standards-based curriculum and computer lab experiences, increased the implementation of research-based practices, and continued utilization of professional learning communities. The students that attend SGA Elementary School reside in the Sardis, Girard, and Alexander communities. According to the 2000 Census results, over 50% of the students enrolled at SGA Elementary are from families receiving government assistance, in which about 38% of the primary caregivers of these students are the grandparents. Nearly 40% of the combined populations live at or below the poverty level, resulting in every student at SGA eating a free/reduced breakfast and lunch. |
Every certified teacher at SGA Elementary is “highly qualified” by definition of state mandates.
