Director of Instructional Technology, Testing, Response to Intervention and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports
The mission of this department in relation to Instructional Technology is to provide training and support in the area of technology integration for teaching, learning and the monitoring of instructional effectiveness. The goal is to encourage and enhance the use of technology in instruction and learning for the students and staff of our schools.
The mission in the area of assessment is to provide guidance and oversight of the testing process, both formative and summative, inorder to provide quality data that is valid and reliable. It is an overriding goal of this department to maintain test security, validity and reliability at or above the standards set by the Georgia Department of Education and the Professional Standards Commission.
Response to Intervention (RTI) and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) are two initiatives that have important implications for school improvement far beyond their immediate purposes. Providing the appropriate and timely interventions for at-risk and strugging students can impact overall learning and test scores, improve classroom behavior, decrease absences and improve school climate. PBIS, when implemented with fidelity, can also greatly improve academic performance, student motivation, school climate, teacher satisfaction and school-wide behavior.
The commitment of this department is to provide high-quality and dependable educational services necessary to support, further, and accomplish the goals set forth in Technology Plan, to provide reliable, valid and ethical assessment serivices and to support academic and behavior interventions. However, more importantly there is a committment to supporting the Burke County Public Schools' Mission and Vision which center around preparing our students to function successfully in a global society.
