Burke County Public Schools to Implement Clear Bag Policy at Athletic Events
Beginning the 2024-25 school year, Burke County Schools will introduce a clear bag policy for all events at its athletic facilities.
The safety of our fans, staff, and student-athletes is our main priority," said Dr. Angela Williams, Burke County Schools Superintendent. "This has become a standard around the state, and our new policy is comparable with other regional schools.”
Allowed will be:
- Clear Bag, maximum of 12 inches x 12 inches x 6 inches
- One-gallon clear plastic resealable bag
- Small clutch or purse, no larger than 8.5 inches x 5.5 inches
- Bag necessary for medical purposes
- Diaper Bag (with an age-appropriate child present)
- Blanket
- Stadium Seat (cushions or seats with backs)
- Binoculars and cameras without cases
All items are subject to inspection by security personnel. Alcohol and other non-permissible items will be prevented from being carried into the stadium. No items can be left or stored at the gates. Attendees are asked to leave their bags and/or backpacks at home or in their vehicle.
Prohibited Bags:
- Large purses
- Backpacks
- Fanny packs
- Sling bags
- Camera bags
- Binocular cases
- Duffel bags
- Mesh bags
- Briefcases
- Any other non-allowable bags
Other Prohibited Items:
- Coolers (hard and soft)
- Laser pointers
- Weapons
- Drugs and/or alcohol
- Outside food or drink
