Lynda Moore explains how to force a copy or preview of a Google Doc, Slides, or Sheets using the chrome extension, Sir Links-a-Lot. Tyler Torek discusses the difference between the two Google stores available for extensions and add-ons: the Chrome Web Store, and the G Suite Marketplace. Tyler demonstrates a chrome extension, Distraction Free Mode. Tyler and Lynda share two Google Slides add-ons, cons For Slides and The Noun Project Icons, which provide solid color icons that can be colored to match and dropped in any Slides document. The chrome extension, Colorzilla Color Picker, is shown and used to match the color of these icon objects to content that is already on the slide.

I will be a full work with teacher yay awesome so we have a question of how to use for links a lot so Tyler can you see my screen okay so I'm just going to go to a Google document that I have open here and what I'm going to do is the surf Lodge extension is right here so when I click on it it the extension is telling Google to grab this URL right here and I can force a copy and four students like what we were just talking about like in a Google form you would definitely want to force a copy and you'll notice what happened is exactly what you were doing so if I preview it you see how the only thing that's changing is the last word in the in the URL link so if I go back to forth copy it's just a copy of the extension works really well so then when I copy it to the clipboard and if I wanted to like pasted on here for whatever reason that I could pay sit right here and it would be they are to be able to use so you can paste this into a Google form or you can attach it like went to something like this and I can attach the link so when you click on the books then it'll force a copy of the project I mean that Google slides that I'm using so does that answer the question template one because you showed us that too so the template one remember it shows you a preview and remember we talked a lot about that in class so does this so what go back and redo this for a second so I'm going to go grab this early to lot for the copy changes it so that you can get a copy but like Tyler talked about yesterday sometimes the things that we don't really need the template actually shows a preview of what you're going to get so like if I copy this to my clipboard and then I go over and I open it in a new browser or tap I can and it's just going to give you a picture or an image of it and if you decide and y'all this is like a crazy little example but if you decided that you wanted to copy that you would use templates and it actually forces a copy so you don't get to see the document before you do it a preview lets you preview it but you don't get a coffee use a template The Best of Both Worlds you can see the image that you might want and then if you click you the template it'll force of coffee so any questions about that alright I want to grab the string screen now if that's okay best place to see and just to share what where to get that links sirlinksalot you go to you do a Google search you do Chrome web store and when you get there by pincer links don't worry about the alot part because it might throw off The Surge but I'm there it is the one with the hat and the gold chain links which is kind of funny I guess they're being a little, but add that to your Chrome browser and you may not think you'll need it now but you'll need it later for something when you need to force a copy or something so so what's the difference between going to your extensions like you just did typing in the Chrome web store or go into the three little dots you know are up in that corner yeah that and getting your extensions that way what's the difference these are all the extensions that I've already been to the store and I've added to my browser to manage then you can go all the way down these are these are all the ones that I've already taken the time go to the Chrome web store in and install on my browser so if you if you type in something right there and Lauren pulled up not from your list but from the outside or oh I go to the three little dots and go to more and then go to that so that takes longer are you could go over here to the menu under extensions and you could there's a link to the Chrome web store down here in the bottom left-hand corner so that's one way to get there and I'll take you there so we want to talk about a couple of add ons extensions but Dee's is going to blow your mind there's another store out there on the internet bye-bye Google and it's not extensions for add-ons or things like Google slides in Google Drive and Google Docs so you got your Chrome extensions in the Chrome web store like we're at right now but there's another store out there called the G Suite Marketplace in this is you have to go there right now but this is where you get these other apps and features before play one here's one that we we did a distraction mode in Google Slides this isn't it add on the slides that you would get in the Chrome Marketplace our very own Scott Norton made this video for some colleagues in a school ask him if we could share it here so we're going to take a look at this if you don't hear audio on this then I'll stop it hey good morning I want to show everyone a very good at all on the Google Chrome Store I had to convert his video from webm to MP4 and it looks like it was a bad conversion but how should I pull it up just so for the second time that I've got his slice right here and I'm sorry I couldn't plays video but anyways the add-ons for this Google Slides you can you can Adam on right here get add-ons and you can manage the ones you do have on you see I've got a number that I've already added. But if he get a tan you would type it in here my end one that he is demonstrating is the distraction free mug and Linda show this I think it's an extension Tyler so it in our class so but you know because I haven't opened it on a Chromebook and made a big difference yeah they're against okay yeah contraction free what it does is it puts this I don't know if you can see it but there's a little square up there in the top of my Google Slides document and when the student if the student has its installed at did Houston you got to train the student and install it but once you have them install it you click on that button and it removes the side menu and some of the the toolbar options of the top but with Scott was showing us and we didn't know is that if you click on it again and you go to full screen mode everything disappears now you might think wait a minute I can do that in Google Slides by going to prison review like present my slide but when you do that and you click on the slide it takes you to the next Slide the beauty with this one this Chrome extension is that you can interact with a slide so on this activity Scott's made a thing where the student has to put bales of straw in the house and the pig's house and obviously he's got to do it though you would drag those over if I was running the distraction-free mode then I would have or it would do the next slide when I clicked on it backwards this is the one you were telling me about right we've covered it before but was Scott has pointed out that I didn't show is that if you put everything and he told me that yeah yeah I'm going to hit that button up in the corner again and hit exit and that's going to take me back to regular so I'm you know now I'm back to normal here send a message to Scott video in ended up having to do it myself cuz of the format put on now want to shows I want to change gears here and are going to show to things that are in the Chrome Marketplace is not Chrome web store this in the marketplace they're both free to an extent I'm I believe you have to pay for some some of these icons call them but this one's an ad on the slides called insert icons for slides and I've got a blank slide right here but actually let me grab Scott's house right here let's say I wanted to put an owl roof or something on the roof right there so I'll come up here to my add-ons and I'll run my insert icon slides that opens up a side tool box and I've got all these mom said I can go through to add there now I could search by name if I knew what I was looking for like owl it looks like they gave me a bowling ball when I type out but I know there's an owl in here somewhere well I'm sure there is there is but one thing you notice is they're all in the same color and the color the the hexadecimal color code is up here at the top I could change the color but let's just say for this activity I wanted this shade of this kind of pale yellow here I want to whatever I brought in I wanted a match that color so I didn't use another color extension that Linda and I have Sean before it's a Color Picker this one's colorzilla and I'm going to pick that color from this screen by hovering my cursor over that yellow box in up here at the top it's going to tell me that the decimal color code of that color so when I click on it it copied it to my clipboard so now I can come over here to my icons and I can right click and paste that color code now all my icons I have to choose from they're all in that color scheme of the color I picked up the screen so now when I grab something so grab this whatever that is I insert it takes a second there and I can put now it doesn't have the black line around it but I could under the formatting options in Google slides at a drop shadow to it and give it some color or Dept right there so anyways that is an add-on like I said that one's called insert icons are Google slides and it's free in the G Suite Marketplace Lynn is going to show in and also I showed this one week from the Chrome Store this was color Zillow that's that color picker picker add on to Chrome so you have to go to Chrome web store to get that one the G Suite Marketplace to get this one and there are Nova other stores for Google those two stores one that she likes call whether you want to take over the screen has showed us it is a Marketplace it's not an extension how can you see my screen so if you look at this and I already kind of showed you my slides but so right here it's actually a site and it is an add-on and so if I go right here I can just go and search icons one of the great things about this is that they're all free but you can if you do a subscription and it's $39 a month I mean but mine has an owl maybe check it out I'll look taller icon even mine can't like you could change the color but I can't change the color I want to show you will quickly if I go to the side that sell lock boxes on some of those well they're not I don't think that I don't I don't we just installed the the add-ons are you were talking because I've always just gone to the website so let me just go to the website for a second to show you that it is 3999 a year or whatever but you can use but you have to give attribution if you don't want the little noun project icon below your icon then you have to pee but I'm just going to select an owl real quick just to see how many hours we can find let's see how many circus we have 35 in the collection and so what we're going to do is I'm just going to grab I don't know grab this one and when I see that my computer is so slow alright so here's my towel now when I when it gives me some options to this icon I can click here and I can also take 299 just for this one I've actually never paid for this I just go ahead and do the basic and give attribution so if I click on base download you'll see that it says rated by Dino softlab from the noun project so what you're essentially saying is that you don't you don't want to pay for it you want to use it but you have to leave this on your icon so I'm going to go ahead and say continue and yes that's what I want to do I'm going to do a PNG and so it's literally just going to download right here and then I'm going to come over to my house or whatever document of working on and I just drag it over and in a second you'll see that you can resize it and I was playing around with this earlier you it doesn't it doesn't let you you know in Google Slides you have the option to go format just like Tyler was showing you can get a format and then there's this recolor but the nails project doesn't let you change the color of it for free now remember that back at the website it did give you the option for color but you do have to pay for them and I think that you can do the drop shadow here but it's and see if you can see the difference in the way that the icon is looking for sure so you still get those options but you can't change the color of the actual icon like you could with Tyler's so but we had 35 hours so I want to show you show me sidebar right here like that at your ad on sin to the noun project out on all right click on the first icon that you see that we knows free okay yeah just click on it okay oh got you so you can change the Color Picker app if you click on the play sign right there in the hexadecimal that you want for that are constant now the only thing that all those icons some of them have little locks on them so you not allowed to download them unless you pay the subscription fee but it let me have it for free it did didn't it said this one has a law you're not going to let me do it is it that's interesting so from website you know why I bet because look at the plane it didn't give attribution but this one did so maybe there are certain few that are free that you can change the color to ya some some you can change it but you get a lot more icons on the website and you know just for the attribution of it that's not too bad like I don't mind that being on my slide from the website there are so like I can't even tell you how many you can search like it's pretty amazing how many icons there are but both both what Tyler and I both showed are good options for being able to use the black and white ones but you could color that black one did you already see if you could recolor yours I didn't actually yeah yeah yeah but it but this one see I picked one that was with a so they're all the same so I don't know why there's a difference between yeah but anyway it's a pretty cool very cool thanks for sharing
