Burke County is a very tight-knit close Community we are the bird dog capital of the world we're very rural and very proud of our farmers for many years in our County we've had almost a flatline when it comes to graduates who have the skills that they need to read proficiently in College and Career we knew that literacy has always been an issue for us we have some very smart kids here in the district but there were a lot of gaps and when I looked at the solutions I heard a lot about filling in the gaps and I just saw something for every student that we had and on and I was excited working with hmh we were able to set goals for our teachers where we wanted to move forward how we were going to help our students improve in their reading skills through a series of collaborative discussions with the curriculum leader we both this enormous project and I'm so pleased to see how it's been implemented and I'm really excited about where they're going the our purpose for reading today is going to be right from our learning Target we're going to read so that we are able to retail the story in the beginning the middle and the end what is the speaker beginning to recognize Micaiah but there's your own independent person and they don't have to follow the voices good job what do you think Central claim it's contagious human versus nature okay very good and seen that I look for in the most into literature is like just forgot what messages in it and let you know I just want to make a change see a group of students start to take the strategies in the information off of the platform and they apply it and you see the student actually experienced some success it just it it warms your heart when I grow up I want to be a sea rights activist last Rider
