The School Social Worker/Attendance Officer Provides Services to Administrators, Teachers, and Support Personnel

• Help the schools in creating a positive climate to promote consistent attendance;
• Investigation of the reason(s) for attendance problems and tardiness;
• An emergency contact person to schools;
• Residency verification;
• Membership on Student Support Teams, when needed, to help provide solutions to students' educational needs;
• Aid solicited from agencies and resources in the community to meet the social needs of children and their families;
• Group work services to students and parents with common concerns/problems and interests as they relate to the child's functioning in school;
• Liaison between the school and home.
